The Florida Transporation Builders Association (FTBA) has recognized the SR60/US 98 Intersection project with a Best in Construction Award in the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) category.

Genesis CEI provided Construction Engineering and Inspection Services for the SR 60/US 98 project which involved complete reconstruction of this intersection in downtown Bartow, FL. The project first required the removal of the existing asphalt intersection in phases and replacement with 24,481 square yards of concrete pavement. Traffic was maintained through the intersection for the duration of the project. The Traffic Control Plan involved 17 distinct phases and stages to remove existing flexible pavement and construct the new rigid pavement. The new concrete pavement extended through two signalized intersections. Work also required widening of the roadway for approximately 2000’ on US 98 and approximately 4000' on SR 60. New signals were installed at the intersections of both US 98 and Wilson Avenue at SR 60. New lighting and ITS infrastructure were installed as well. The client for the project is the Florida Department of Transportation - District 1. The contractor for the project is CONE & GRAHAM, INC.
