The TBRPC has awarded Genesis on behalf of the Veterans Memorial Park Museum Committee, Inc. first place in the "Community Service" category and the "Cultural, Sports, and Recreation" category for work associated with the Hillsborough County Veterans Memorial Park and Museum during the 23rd Annual Future of the Region Awards luncheon held on Friday March 27, 2015.
The Future of the Region Awards event highlights projects and programs that exemplify regionalism, and recognizes outstanding achievements and contributions that benefit the regional community.
Hillsborough County Veterans Memorial Park and Museum is a nearly 14 acre site honoring the veterans who served to protect our freedom. The park provides a regional gathering place in remembrance of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom as well as honoring all those who have served. In order to create a moving and fitting tribute without the appearance of a cemetery, the park showcases the talented works of many veterans and artisans in reflections of the extraordinary price of armed conflict. Every year, the park serves as a ground for regional ceremonies on Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Patriots Day, along with numerous other events.
Beginning in 2011, Genesis worked behind the scenes with the Hillsborough County Veterans Memorial Park Museum Committee, Inc. and Hillsborough County Staff to help conceive, design and construct three of the six new war memorials added to the Park. Included in the six were war memorials for Spanish-American, Vietnam, Korea and Iraq along with special memorials for “Fallen Heroes” and “Committed Forces”. Genesis provided conceptual planning and site plans for the Vietnam, Korea and Iraq memorials on a pro bono basis.
Genesis is proud to be associated with this project and enjoys the privilege of donating many of our professional services in honor and respect for those who defend our freedom. You can visit the award winning Hillsborough County Veterans Memorial Park and Museum at 3602 US Highway 301 N. Tampa, FL.
Genesis is currently in design and permitting to add an additional five memorials to the park during the 2015 calendar year. The future plans of the park include a new museum building and at least five more memorials.
