The Downtown Master Plan was prepared for the City of Tifton with close coordination with their Downtown Development Authority. It was the City’s desire to provide a public visioning process and create a downtown master plan aimed at formulating plans for innovative development and visual links between the existing vacant property on Main Street, the Horizon Mills property, the downtown parks, and the downtown parking areas. For this purpose, a study area was established. In addition to the study area, the City requested recommendations to be made to improve the aesthetics of the nearby Fulwood Park and the two detention pond areas, as well as pedestrian/bikeway connectivity from ABAC to the downtown area, and recommendations for gateway entry and wayfinding signage from the main transportation corridors of the City to the downtown area.

The final Master Plan document provides plans and details for the redevelopment of the downtown, incorporating the visioning process and providing implementation strategies and funding information. Currently, the Master Plan is waiting final approval from the Tifton, Georgia City Council.
